Visitors to the Pioneer Valley can savor pastoral beauty, urban bustle and everything in-between, including some of New England’s most charming college towns. Be sure to see the Basketball Hall of Fame, Yankee Candle Village, the Dr. Seuss National Memorial at the Springfield Museums, and Six Flags New England. Other key stops include The Zoo in Forest Park, the Volleyball Hall of Fame, Lupa Zoo, Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory and Gardens, The Big E and Bright Nights at Forest Park. or take a cruise on the Lady Bea.

ARTS & CULTURE

Museums10 encompasses top museums, including the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, the Emily Dickinson Museum, the National Yiddish Book Center, Historic Deerfield and many more. Other cultural draws include the twice-yearly Paradise City Arts Festival, the Brimfield Outdoor Antique Shows (the largest gatherings of antique and collectibles dealers in the world), and the Old Deerfield Craft Fair, which takes place four times annually.

WHAT'S NEW?

Massachusetts’ only zip-line canopy tours have just opened at Zoar Outdoor and Berkshire East Ski Resort, both in Charlemont. Fly through the tree tops by means of zip lines and sky bridges and see the wonders of Western Mass from a whole new perspective. Coming in Fall 2009 will be the Museum of Springfield History, which will feature many Springfield-based inventions including Indian Motocycles, a Gee Bee Airplane and a 1928 Rolls Royce.
