festivals, celebrations, parades, and of course

Marblehead
Festival of Arts (Marblehead,
July 1-5) Summer Arts Festival featuring
art exhibits, performing arts, film festival, and more.
Fireworks show begins at 9 pm. The best places for
viewing are Fort Sewall, Fort Beach, Chandler Hovey
Park, Crocker Park, and Riverhead Beach.

Danvers Family
Festival (Danvers,
July 3) The Fireworks Festival takes
place at Plains Park from 4 - 9 pm with musical
performances, games and rides for kids, and concession
stands offering delicious food! Throughout the early
evening there is a stunt plane show, along with
parachuting and a military fly over. The famed fireworks
show begins at 9:30 pm.
• 4th of July
Celebration (Salisbury,
July 3-4) Enjoy the sea and surf, ice
cream and cotton candy, beach pizza and fried dough,
arcades and more starting at 10 am.

Independence
Day Celebration (Cape Ann, July
4) The day commences with the
Manchester-By-The-Sea Independence Day Parade at 9:30
am. Festivities in Rockport begin at 6 pm with the
Firemen’s Parade, followed by the Legion Band Concert on
Back Beach at 8:30 pm. A bonfire on the beach finishes
the day at 9 pm.
• Salem
Celebrates the 4th (Salem, July
4) Opening ceremonies begin at 7:15 pm
with a military flyover at the Salem Maritime Historic
Site on Derby Wharf, followed by a two hour 'POPS'
concert by the Hillyer Festival Orchestra. At 9:15 pm a
magnificent fireworks display launched from Derby
Wharf.

performing July 15. Rubblebucket Orchestra, a group

Maudslay Arts
Center in Newburyport is celebrating its
18th season with the launch of the 2010 season. Patrons
will find a new dance area next to the stage, updated
exterior lighting, new window boxes and plantings in the

Band on July 9, the Don Campbell Band from Maine on July

Summer
Vacation
School’s
out for summer, and there’s so much to do to keep the
kids entertained North of Boston. The Wenham Museum
specializes in preserving and
interpreting the history and culture of Boston's North
Shore, domestic life and the artifacts of childhood. The
museum’s History Alive summer programs start July 12.
These week-long, daytime activities include campfire
cookouts, Native American storytelling, authentic period
cooking, songs and dances, crafts and games, and more.

Past
Finders, now in its 20th season, is a
summer day program for children in grades 1-7. The
program is designed to teach children about history in a
fun and imaginative way. Past Finders staff encourage
children to appreciate history through hands-on

at the Buttonwoods
