  • Logan Airport is located three miles from downtown Boston and is easily accessible by public transportation, taxi and limousine services. A free shuttle bus marked "MASSPORT" stops at each airline terminal, the Airport MBTA Station on the Blue Line and the water shuttle dock.
  • The MBTA will take you to all downtown points; one bus or train ride is $1.50 - $3.50 depending on mode and transfers; 617-222-3200.

    The Downeaster departs from North Station in Boston and makes several stops in southern New Hampshire and southern Maine on it's way to Portland.

    MBTA Rapid Transit

    The T runs daily service on buses, boats, trains and trolleys throughout Boston and surrounding towns. Stations can be identified by a black T on a white circular sign: .

    Purchase fare on a CharlieTicket with cash, debit or credit card at fare-vending machines in any station or aboveground trolley stop, or with cash only at a bus farebox. One bus or train ride is $1.50 - $3.50 depending on mode and transfers. Children 11 or under ride free with a paying adult, while customers 65 and over pay a reduced fare. The MBTA Web site has information more about fares, schedules, routes and the automated fare equipment.

    Visitors benefit from multi-day LinkPasses for unlimited bus, train, trolley and Inner Harbor Ferry access for one ($9.00) or seven ($15.00) days effective from date of purchase. Passes are available at any in-station or Logan Airport fare-vending machine or at vendors throughout the city.     Regional Transit Authorities

    Berkshire Regional Transit Authority
    The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority provides public transportation services to its 24 member communities within Berkshire County, the western most region of Massachusetts.

    Brockton Area Transit Authority
    BAT’s fixed route service connects neighboring communities and the Central Business District in Boston, as well as major industrial parks, three colleges, medical facilities, shopping centers and area commuter rails.

    Cape Ann Transit Authority
    including additional services to Danvers and Peabody Malls and in Ipswich, Essex and Beverly.

    Cape Cod Regional Transit Authority
    providing public transportation services for all 15 Cape Cod communities including Barnstable, Bourne, Brewster, Chatham, Dennis, Eastham, Falmouth, Harwich, Mashpee, Orleans, Provincetown, Sandwich, Truro, Wellfleet and Yarmouth. The CCRTA owns and operates the Hyannis Transportation Center in downtown Hyannis and the new state of the art CCRTA Operations and Maintenance Facility in South Dennis.

    Franklin Regional Transit Authority
    The FRTA currently serves 40 communities throughout Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire and Worcester Counties.

    Greater Attleboro Taunton Regional Transit Authority (GATRA)
    GATRA provides affordable fixed-route bus service in Attleboro, Duxbury, Franklin, Kingston, Mansfield, Middleborough, North Attleboro, Norton, Plainville, Plymouth, Raynham, Taunton, and Wareham.

    Lowell Regional Transit Authority
    Providing service to Lowell and surrounding towns

    Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority
    The only year round Island-wide public transportation system on Martha's Vineyard.

    Merrimack Valley Transit Authority
    The MVRTA's Fixed Route bus service area includes Andover, Amesbury, Haverhill, Lawrence, Merrimac, Methuen, Newburyport and North Andover. The Authority also provides service to the Lowell Transit Center for connections with the Lowell Regional Transit Authority

    MetroWest Regional Transit Authority
    Serving the communities of Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Natick, Sherborn, Southborough, Sudbury, Wayland, Weston.

    Montachusett Regional Transit Authority
    Fixed routes include Fitchburg/Leominster/Gardner; Lunenburg(Massachusetts Ave Area)& Lancaster(Orchard Hill Plaza Area)

    Nantucket Regional Transit Authority
    THE WAVE provides island-wide seasonal fixed route bus service from Madaket to Sconset, Surfside to Jetties beaches, The Nantucket Airport, downtown Nantucket and the Mid Island area.

    Island Ferries

    Island ferries are seasonal except where indicated by (YR).  Only the Steamship Authority transports vehicles to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket Island.  Space is limited; reservations are required and should be made far in advance.  Reservations are not required for passengers, bicycles, and motorcycles.  If you plan to leave your car on Cape Cod, parking is avaialble for a fee at the Steamship Authority docks.  For more infformation click on islandferry.com.
