Forrest O'Connor

Dates: Sat, Apr 20, 2013
Times: 3:30PM

Description:
Forrest O'Connor was born in one of the most musically innovative environments in recent memory: 1980s Nashville. His family was involved in the music industry, so he was fortunate to grow up around world-class performers like Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss, Bela Fleck, Victor Wooten, Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, and Edgar Meyer. O'Connor played fiddle, guitar, piano, and even trombone during elementary and middle school. After graduating college, O'Connor co-founded Concert Window, Inc., which has webcasted nearly 1,500 live concerts from top-notch venues around the U.S. (including the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, and le Poisson Rouge in New York) to viewers in over 130 countries. In late 2010, O'Connor wrote more than 30 songs, taught himself how to sing, and switched from mandolin to mandola, which is tuned a fifth lower. Soon afterward, he began performing in venues throughout the Boston area. Now, at age 24, O'Connor maintains an active performance schedule, both as a solo artist and as a member of The David Gallagher Band, and he continues to compose melody-driven, harmonically fresh songs that tell whimsical tales. http://www.forrestoconnormusic.com
