Description:
Established in Boston in 1815, the Handel and Haydn Society is the oldest continuously performing arts organization in the country. Its internationally acclaimed chorus and period instrument orchestra perform Baroque and Classical repertoire in the style of the period when it was composed, using original instruments and techniques. The Society is recognized as an innovative and vibrant leader in our classical music community. With the debut of Artistic Director Harry Christophers, the 2009-2010 Season features renowned artists and great masterpieces, highlighted by the annual performance of Handel's Messiah, a Boston holiday tradition for 156 years.
