Coastal Farming Walking Tours

These free guided walking tours are offered as part of Trails and Sails, and explore Cogswell’s Grant in its capacity as a working farm from the seventeenth century to the present day. Walking through the fields and down to the marsh, learn about the rich history of all the families that lived and farmed here, and how coastal farming has evolved over nearly four centuries. The views and vistas defy description. The farm store carries their own fresh vegetables and fruit seasonally from June through February of each year. Their bakery produces fresh fruit pies, cider donuts, apple dumplings, and to-die-for gourmet cookies. “Pick your own fruit” is available beginning with strawberries in June, blueberries and raspberries in July and August, peaches in August, and continue with apples and pears in September and October. The winery, producing handcrafted fruit and grape wines, is open year-round and sponsors tasting events throughout the year.

Marshall Farm

Marshall Farm offers more fun & entertainment than you’ll find at any farm this season. They have New England’s largest petting zoo, with over 150 animals. The Fun Park includes amusement rides and other entertainment for all, as well as the Alien “crop circle” corn maze – just the right size for the entire family. Marshall Farm has been growing apples for over 100 years and is the home of the Marshall “Mac” apple invented at the farm in 1958. The farm’s apples are enhanced by classical music which is played 24/7. It also makes apple picking more enjoyable. In addition they have a pumpkin patch with thousands of pumpkins to pick from.
